Materials

Simple materials, node materials and textures.

Simple materials

Every mesh has a Material block in Details. The simplest option is Simple (values below): base color, metallic, roughness and emission, right there in Details.

Node materials

Like in Unreal, a shared material is a graph with an Output node (Base Color, Metallic, Roughness, Emissive, Opacity and Normal) and nodes such as Color, Scalar, Texture (with tiling), Normal Map, Multiply, Add and Lerp.

  • Create one with + New → Material in the Content Browser.
  • Open it with Edit Graph… in Details, or double-click it in the Materials folder.
  • Convert to Node Material turns a simple material into a graph.

The preview is 3D and uses the real material (textures, normal map, shine, emission) on a sphere, cube, cylinder, plane or torus. Drag it to turn it.

Working with graphs

These controls work in every graph in Omnion (materials, logic, sound, geometry):

  • The node search on the side has groups with icons and colors and explains each node. Click a node or drag it into the graph.
  • Click a node to select it; Shift+click adds or removes it from the selection.
  • Drag on the background to draw a lasso (Shift adds, Ctrl removes; Alt draws a rectangle). The right or middle button moves the view.
  • Grab a wire near one end to move it to another pin, or drop it in empty space to remove it.
  • Delete removes and Ctrl+D duplicates the selection.

Textures

Put PNG or JPG files in assets/textures (with Import… or by dragging them onto the window). Drop a texture onto an object to make a material with it, or onto a material graph to create a Texture node.
