Animation and the Timeline
Keyframe animation, the Timeline panel and sequences.
Animation component
Like Unity’s Animation window: position, rotation and scale keys on an object.
- Move the object where you want it and click Add Key Here.
- Set updates a key to the current pose and Go to jumps to it.
- Choose Once, Loop or Ping-Pong, smoothing, speed and whether it starts by itself.
Preview and the time bar play it in the viewport without changing the scene. Logic starts it with Play Animation.
Timeline panel
The Timeline (a tab next to the Content Browser) works like Unreal’s Sequencer:
- + Track: an object and a property (position, rotation, scale, color, metallic, roughness, emission, visible or a script variable). Double-click the row, or ◆ Key, to add a keyframe at the playhead. Drag diamonds in time, and right-click to choose the interpolation (Linear, Smooth, Ease In/Out, Constant).
- Curves: the curve editor of the selected track. Drag points in value and time.
- + Audio: add a sound (or drag one onto the audio row). You see its waveform and hear it as you scrub.
- + Marker: a named mark. The Event Sequence Marker node fires when the playhead passes it.
- Play, pause, stop, loop, zoom (Ctrl+wheel) and time snapping (down to one frame at 30 fps).
Each sequence is an asset (.sequence.json, + New → Sequence). Logic plays it with Play Sequence or play_sequence("Intro") and stops it with Stop Sequence.
