Early access
Omnion is in early access: we open the engine in waves.
- Join the list with a free Omnion ID. It’s the same account for the launcher, the editor, the docs and the forum. Confirm your email, because invites only go to confirmed addresses.
- Install the Omnion Launcher from the download page and sign in. It shows your place in line.
- When it’s your turn, we email you and the launcher offers to install the engine.
Download
With early access, the launcher installs the engine and keeps it up to date. If you prefer a zip, the download page has one for each system, with its SHA-256 checksum.
Open the editor
Open it from the launcher. If you downloaded the zip, unzip it anywhere you like (your Documents folder is fine) and open the editor inside it. There’s no installer and it doesn’t need administrator rights.
The first time it opens, you’ll see the Level workspace with an example scene. Your preferences, like the theme, the accent color and the interface size, are in Edit → Preferences and are saved automatically.
Tip: On Windows, you can pin the editor to the taskbar like any other app.
Click Sign In at the right end of the editor’s top bar. Your browser opens on omnionengine.com; sign in if you need to and click Allow. The editor shows your name when it’s done. You can see and disconnect every signed-in copy of the editor in Account → Security.
Updating
New versions are announced in News and listed in the release notes. The launcher updates the engine for you. With the zip, download the new version and replace the old folder. Your projects live in their own folders, so they’re not touched.
