Modeling and terrain

Select, Modeling and Terrain modes, the Mesh Editor and Geometry Nodes.

Modes

Like Unreal’s modes, they’re in the toolbar (or Shift+1, 2 and 3). They share the Modes panel, which changes with the mode:

  • Select shows Place Actors: shapes, lights, cameras, the player and effects to drag into the viewport.
  • Modeling makes new shapes with exact sizes (cube, plane, cylinder, cone, sphere, torus, tube, ramp, stairs with any number of steps, arch, door and window) and has every tool for the selected mesh.
  • Terrain creates a terrain (size, detail and shape) and lets you sculpt and paint it with a brush.

Mesh Editor and Terrain Editor

Each editable mesh and terrain can be worked on by itself: Open in Mesh Editor or Open in Terrain Editor (in Details or in the mode panels) opens a tab with its own 3D view, its tools beside it and the object isolated.

Geometry Nodes

The Geometry Nodes component (Add Component → Rendering) works like Blender’s: a graph produces the mesh you see, without changing the object’s own mesh (Input Mesh is its Poly Mesh).

  • Nodes: Cube, Sphere, Plane, Cylinder, Transform, Join and Output.
  • Mark any number on a node as In the Inspector to tweak it from Details without opening the graph.
  • Save Graph as Asset stores it as a .geometry.json you can reuse (drag it onto another object).
  • Apply as Mesh turns the result into the object’s mesh.
